Here's what we're excited about for August

The Discover Rec team lives in and loves Ottawa as much as the next person. When we asked the team what they were looking forward to in August they said:

August is one of the few months in the year where I try to get out of Ottawa. After living in Toronto for a few years and finally moving home to Ottawa, one of the things I appreciate most is how quickly you can get from downtown to the country. August is when my partner and I try and spend some time camping, hanging out on the lake or going for long drives through the southern Ontario countryside.

                           -Justice

August drives me a bit crazy because there’s always more things I want to see than I have free weekends. Our family is looking forward to cultural festivals like the Ottawa Greek Festival and the Great Indian Festival and going to the Navan Fair. I’m also really hoping to make it out to Torchlight Shakespeare this year and Lumière Ottawa, which somehow we haven’t ever made it to. Outdoor movies would be nice too, and the Busker’s Festival. Oh! And farmer’s markets and maybe an Ottawa Fury game and family picnics at the splash pad and exploring Gatineau Park and, well, you see what I mean!

                           -Bart

My kids love to create and explore so they had a blast at Duffer Doo doing crafts and playing games this summer! They’re getting to the age where new interests are starting to blossom. I’m excited, as a mom, to give them some options to cultivate their talents and explore new things. I’m thinking the Twinkling Toes dance classes or Frosty Blades skating for this fall.

                            -Sam
